Minneapolis is reeling after a deadly encounter between a federal ICE agent and a local woman, an incident that has ignited outrage across the nation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The victim, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was a poet, mother, and Minneapolis resident whose sudden death has left friends, neighbors, and family heartbroken.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tragedy unfolded on the morning of January 7, 2026, in south Minneapolis during a federal immigration operation.<\/p>\n

Video footage shows<\/a> a burgundy SUV surrounded by ICE officers at the intersection of 34th Street and Portland Avenue. Gunfire erupted moments later, leaving the vehicle crashed into a light pole and parked cars, with bullet holes visible in the driver\u2019s side windshield.<\/p>\n

Moments after the shooting, Good\u2019s wife, covered in blood and visibly distraught, sobbed on the icy street. \u201cI made her come down here, it\u2019s my fault,\u201d she cried. \u201cThey just shot my wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to New York Post<\/a>, she had been filming the agents just minutes before the deadly confrontation and rushed to help after the gunfire.<\/p>\n

ICE claims self-defense<\/h2>\n

Federal officials defended the shooting, with DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stating, \u201cAn ICE officer fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow officers and the lives of the public, fired defensive shots, used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers. The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. Thankfully, the ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries.\u201d<\/p>\n

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem added that Good had been \u201cstalking and impeding\u201d federal agents and called the incident \u201cpreventable.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, this account has faced intense scrutiny and widespread criticism.<\/p>\n
